Pharmaceutical Shipping Software; The Origin Story of Pharmalogiks

When it comes to origin stories, the tale of Pharmalogiks and our pharmaceutical shipping software is probably fairly similar to many stories and the genesis of them.

Having spent many years working in the Pharmaceutical industry and witnessing first hand the struggle in this area, something had to be done. There were many attempts to solve this problem, even in my 12 years at the company. Each time, it ended in millions spent and a failed attempt to solve this problem.

How can it be so hard to have a system to help scientists ship all that they need? It’s not as if the system has to handle the physical shipping of the items… so…

Why is it so difficult to find a pharmaceutical shipping software?

And, to clarify, I mean an actual pharmaceutical shipping software. Not a product that is used in other industries that is promised to be customized to a point of non recognition to try and target the pharmaceutical sector.

Oh yes, you companies know who you are! *points finger*

My experience has taught me this; shipping in pharma is very different to other sectors. It’s not a crazy concept, and it’s actually not wildly complicated, but it is very different from shipping a coat, compared to chemically synthesized materials.

The way a system needs to be architected is completely different from a standard consumer goods product. There is a requirement for flexibility, something that the rigidity of fixed consumer platforms just can’t do.

The emphasis is on what you’re shipping, the documents needed and ensuring that the shipment will arrive to the destination without getting held up in customs.

If you’ve ever sent something post Brexit to or from Europe using a courier, you’ll know you have to deal with more paperwork to even ship Christmas gifts now. But this is but a glimpse into the world of chemicals, tissue, compounds and everything in between. A world where weights, measures, temperatures, intended us, origins and descriptions are far and away more vital than marking something as a gift to avoid the recipient paying import duties on it.

When you send things of the nature and at a volume of pharmaceutical and biotech companies, this becomes a potential nightmare at scale. Not just for the cost, the timelines for research, but also from an auditory perspective. In a world of high regulation, you can’t simply tick the closest thing you think it could be and just hope for the best. Every package has potential consequences.

Why is Pharmalogiks any different?

Understanding the problem was the first step for us, which was witnessed first hand. Secondly, it was understanding where companies were failing and most importantly why.

It isn’t about fitting something to the needs of pharma and biotech, it was about created something specifically for the needs of the industry.

Building a product from scratch that truly understood the needs for flexibility, customization and built around the core of the problem.

We didn’t start with anything. We had no platform we needed to try and customize to make work. We built a platform, a product, that understood not just the problem, but each person who would be using it.

Taking modern technology practices and what would be expected by users and combined it with the key requirements needed for a product in this area.

The result?

A really bloody great solution, specific to the sector it caters for, with a modern architecture, meaning we can deliver flexibly workflows, customizable forms, multi-language documentation, full reporting, custom integrations from customer systems, AI driven form completion, full transparency from end to end for every role in the organization.

A product we can be proud of and a product that we can truly say is fit for your needs to ensure your peace of mind from lab to location, with confidence.
